Interested in becoming a lifeguard?
The course provides the knowledge & skills needed to become a certified senior lifeguard. Individuals must attend all scheduled class days and have total participation. Students must pass both the written & physical tests for national YMCA certification.
2020 Lifeguard Certification Classes are as follows:
Lifeguard Class (30 hours) – April 23; 24 ;25 ;26; May 2; May 3
Lifeguard Class (30 hours) – May 21;22 ;23 ;24 ;30;31
For exact times on these training dates please see Lou Bergen, Aquatics Director. This certification class is 30 hours in total. Must meet minimum qualifications (below).
Cost: YMCA members $200 / Non-member $220
2020 Lifeguard Re-Certification Classes are as follows:

Essential Prerequisites: minimum age 16 and must be a very strong swimmer.
Individual must be able to pass a ¼ mile swimming test using various strokes, survival floating, treading water. CPR (adult, child, & infant), First Aid, AED and O2 certification preferred prior to class.
**CPR/First Aid Class will be included at no cost if student is not currently certified. The CPR class will be in addition to the regularly scheduled lifeguard courses.
CPR/First Aid Class (4 Hour Class)
Saturdays from 8am-12:00 pm on the following dates in 2020:

- May 16
- June 27
- July 18
- August 22
- September 12
- October 24
- November 21
2020 RE- CERTIFICATION CPR (2 Hour Class) : (9am – 11am)February 15; March 14; April 18; August 15 ; October 17; December 12
